10 Days Uganda Primate Safari and Zanzibar Beach Holiday

Gorilla Trekking, Chimpanzee Trekking, and Zanzibar Beach Escape

This 10-Day Uganda Primate Safari and Zanzibar Beach Holiday combines East Africa’s most sought-after wildlife encounters with a relaxing Indian Ocean getaway. The safari is designed for travelers who want to experience the best of Uganda gorilla trekking, chimpanzee trekking in Uganda, wildlife viewing, and a tropical Zanzibar beach holiday in one unforgettable journey.

During this adventure, you will track chimpanzees in Kibale National Park and Kyambura Gorge, enjoy a wildlife safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park, meet endangered mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and take a guided walking safari in Lake Mburo National Park. Finally, you will fly to Zanzibar for a relaxing beach holiday along the beautiful shores of the Indian Ocean.

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park

Your Uganda primate safari begins with a morning departure from Entebbe. After meeting your professional safari guide, you will travel to Kibale National Park, the leading destination for chimpanzee trekking in Uganda.

The drive takes you through scenic countryside landscapes, tea plantations, traditional villages, and rolling hills. Along the way, you will enjoy several stops to appreciate Uganda’s natural beauty and cultural diversity.

Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and relax as you prepare for the exciting chimpanzee trekking experience ahead.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale National Park

After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before starting your Kibale chimpanzee trekking experience.

Kibale National Park is home to one of Africa’s largest populations of wild chimpanzees. As you walk through the tropical rainforest, experienced ranger guides will help you locate a habituated chimpanzee community.

Once found, you will spend one hour observing these fascinating primates as they feed, groom, communicate, and interact with one another. In addition, you may spot other primates such as red colobus monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys.

After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and enjoy a peaceful afternoon surrounded by the forest.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

Following breakfast, continue your Uganda wildlife safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most popular savannah national park.

The journey offers spectacular views of crater lakes, the Rwenzori Mountains, and beautiful countryside scenery. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch before heading out for an afternoon Kazinga Channel boat cruise.

The Kazinga Channel is famous for its incredible concentration of wildlife. During the cruise, you may encounter elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles, and large pods of hippos along the shoreline. Furthermore, the channel is one of the best birdwatching locations in Uganda.

The boat cruise provides excellent photography opportunities and is often considered a highlight of any Queen Elizabeth National Park safari.

Day 4: Game Drive and Chimpanzee Trekking in Kyambura Gorge

Start the day with an early morning game drive across the Kasenyi Plains. This area is known for its abundant wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, and warthogs.

After the game drive, proceed to Kyambura Gorge for your second chimpanzee trekking experience in Uganda.

Often called the “Valley of Apes,” Kyambura Gorge features a unique rainforest hidden beneath the savannah landscape. The gorge provides a completely different trekking experience compared to Kibale National Park.

As you search for chimpanzees, you will also enjoy stunning scenery and opportunities to spot other wildlife species. Later, return to your lodge for dinner and relaxation.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today, you will travel to the world-famous Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.

The route passes through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is well known for its rare tree-climbing lions. If conditions allow, you may have an opportunity to spot these remarkable predators resting in fig trees.

Continue through the beautiful Kigezi Highlands before arriving at your lodge near the gorilla trekking sector.

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today is the highlight of your Uganda gorilla trekking safari.

After an early breakfast, attend a briefing conducted by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You will then be assigned a gorilla family and begin your trek through the dense rainforest.

The trek can last anywhere from a few hours to most of the day, depending on the gorillas’ location. However, every step is worthwhile.

Once you find the mountain gorillas, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing them in their natural habitat. Watching these gentle giants interact, feed, and care for their young is a truly life-changing wildlife experience.

After the trek, return to the lodge and celebrate one of Africa’s greatest safari adventures.

Day 7: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, leave Bwindi and travel to Lake Mburo National Park, one of Uganda’s most scenic wildlife destinations.

Although it is Uganda’s smallest savannah national park, Lake Mburo is rich in wildlife and offers a completely different safari experience. The park is famous for zebras, impalas, giraffes, elands, and numerous bird species.

Upon arrival, check into your lodge and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Day 8: Walking Safari in Lake Mburo National Park and Transfer to Entebbe

Begin the day with a guided walking safari in Lake Mburo National Park.

Unlike many African parks, Lake Mburo allows visitors to explore the wilderness on foot. Accompanied by an armed ranger guide, you will walk through the savannah while observing wildlife from a unique perspective.

During the walk, you may encounter zebras, giraffes, impalas, elands, and buffaloes. The experience offers excellent opportunities for photography and nature appreciation.

Afterward, begin your return journey to Entebbe. Along the way, stop at the Equator for photographs and souvenir shopping before continuing to the airport for your flight to Zanzibar.

Day 9: Zanzibar Beach Holiday

Arrive in Zanzibar and transfer to your beachfront resort.

After several days of adventure on your Uganda and Zanzibar safari, today is dedicated to relaxation. Spend your time enjoying the white-sand beaches, swimming in the warm Indian Ocean waters, or simply unwinding beneath the palm trees.

Zanzibar’s stunning coastline provides the perfect ending to an exciting East African safari experience.

Day 10: Zanzibar Beach Relaxation and Departure

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast while overlooking the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.

Depending on your departure schedule, you may spend additional time at the beach, explore local attractions, or enjoy optional water activities before your airport transfer.

Your 10 Days Uganda Primate Safari and Zanzibar Beach Holiday concludes with unforgettable memories of gorilla trekking, chimpanzee tracking, wildlife encounters, and tropical beach relaxation.
